STRAWBERRIES – Spot the difference! FLOWER POTS mark the DIVIDE

06 Nov STRAWBERRIES – Spot the difference! FLOWER POTS mark the DIVIDE

Starting out as a volcanic rock dust sceptic I am maybe going to have to think again….
The above photo is a bed of 3 new varieties of STRAWBERRIES that I started at the end of last year and yes, the photo shows the 3 different varieties running from left to right.
At the time of first planting I spread volcanic rock dust at a dosage of 2kg per square metre to one half of the new bed but none the other – with the up-turned clay flower pots marking the division from top to bottom in the middle of the photo.
There were no other “soil additives” – and when I took the net off this year there was an obvious difference between the two parts of the bed, as shown above, which I can only attribute to volcanic rock dust!!!!
Not sure of the science behind it all, but the empirical evidence is there.
